Founder frogs were rescued from Montserrat when chytrid arrived in 2009. F1 progeny have been returned to Montserrat under intensive observation to investigate the options for restoring Mountain Chicken populations even in the face of chytrid fungus infection. Three trial releases have been done so far, 2011 and 2012 with a total of 121 frogs.
