The concentration of salts in the water within its natural habitat seems to vary, but we do not know if it is a natural variation or caused by the decrease in the level of the lagoon. We do not know the tolerance of the species to different concentrations of salts and how this can affect its reproduction. In the two reproductive events we had, the size of the setting for the second year significantly increased. We assume that it was for a higher frequency of feeding under human care and a better body condition of the females. We have not observed courtship or fertilization, simply the posture of the eggs. The ex situ reproductive season runs from January to April, we don't know if it's the same in the wild.

2021: There is a need to increase the number of founders. Habitat threats continue, although the population appears stable according to monitoring data until 2019.
